The leading edge assembly is coming along well now that the folded skins have been adjusted to the proper profile and shape.
The stringer positions are carefully plotted out then the stringers are fitted. Each one is slid in from the root end and through each rib cutout. These have a tab which is required to be bent in the most accurate way to match each stringer as fitted. You can begin to appreciate the robust nature of a P-40 wing!
Inside view of the original Gunport (middle piece) attached to the new cast fitting. The fact there are no rivet holes present in the casting show it is new build.
The castings are fitted inside the wing leading edge skins which also has a sheet Ali doubler. More of the printed lettering is easily seen here too.
